“Dark, painful, and hopeful. This short story is hopefully the precursor to a new series. At first, this reader questioned the main character’s motivation for becoming a vampire, but learning her past made her a more sympathetic figure. It was a super quick read, like maybe an hour or so? That is really my only complaint. I wish for longer reads, but Davis’s writing is captivating, solid, and original.”
