Silly Voices, reading to my baby

I recently finished reading Peter Pan to my baby girl. What an imaginative and whimsical story!

With how often people bemoan adulting it is no wonder why a story about a boy that doesn’t want to grow up still resonates.  

I love reading to her using silly voices and exaggerated facial expressions. We often do story time in the late afternoons after we’ve already had our own adventure for the day. I hope she enjoys the silly voices I use and the goofy expressions I make.

I do it to improve her language development skills. I also do it to bond with her, and share my love of reading.

“Believe it or not, by the time babies reach their first birthday they will have learned all the sounds needed to speak their native language. The more stories you read aloud, the more words your child will be exposed to and the better he or she will be able to talk.”

She’s not even one-year-old yet, and already has so many books! Next on our reading list is Heidi.
