Inspiration images for This Time

The images I used for inspiration.

Hi there,

I’m currently working on book two and three in the Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter series. Both books are scheduled to be published in 2019.

The ebook cover for That Night (book two) will be revealed this winter!

In the mean time, I’d like to share some of my inspiration images with you. These images were found online after the creation of my Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter series. While not a perfect match for what I’ve imagined, I revisit them often for inspiration when trying to improve dialogue and descriptions.

These images are hors d’oeuvres meant to whet your appetite.

Our beloved main character, Nadira:

The person Nadira loves most, Leo:

The demon that finds Nadira intriguing, Derek:

The demon haunting Nadira, Roquelle:

I thoroughly enjoyed created Nadira. She’s a heroine I can root for all day long. She’s got some growing up to do, but, hey, adulting is hard.

The first two physical characteristics I imagined vividly were Nadira’s long, well-groomed dreadlocks and her dark brown skin. I didn’t want her to look like me or anyone I know, and yet I wanted her to seem familiar.

With so few dark skin main characters out there (in books and movies) I felt compelled to create a relatable, African-American, female, main character that was both strong and vulnerable.

Nadira is joined by a multicultural cast of hunters, demons and mundanes, offering plenty of lovable and infuriating characters for readers to obsess about.

I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the characters of This Time.

As always, thank you for your continued interest in my writing.

Warm wishes,

Azaaa Davis

  1. I love your pictures! Derek looks familiar somehow, but I can’t place him.

I think it’s wonderful that you have a spectrum of colors for your book series. It’ll be a good addition to my #YDSF2019 (Year of Diversity in Speculative Fiction) and because you mentioned romance, perfect for February. Good luck with the writing!
