I write a lot about my life as a new mom of two and as an up-and-coming writer. Today, I want to share my romantic side. I love love love the emerging movie genre called Dance Romance. These movies feature powerful performance by dancers, moving music, and drama-filled romantic relationships. 💖
When I’m up at 11pm at night helping my little ones stay asleep, I usually watch a movie to relax. It’s my me time, alone time, self care moment all wrapped into one. I don’t watch horror movies any more. I feel like I’ve seen all the good fantasy and science-fiction movies. Comedies have never been my preferred movie genre. Romantic comedies use to entertain me as a teen, but they just seen so unrealistic now that I’m an adult. Yet, somehow, dance romance movies entertain, thrill and seduce me. Probably because I swear I was a dancer in a former life.

Ballerina Amalie’s posh life goes awry when her father loses his fortune. However, things take a turn after crossing paths with Mikael, a hip-hop dancer.
2. Center Stage 🩰
A group of 12 teenagers from various backgrounds enroll at the American Ballet Academy in New York to make it as ballet dancers and each one deals with the problems and stress of training and getting ahead in the world of dance.
3. Step Sisters 🥾🎵
To get the college dean’s backing for Harvard, Jamilah has to teach girls at a white sorority to step dance.
4. Honey 🎵
Honey is a sexy, tough music video choreographer who shakes up her life after her mentor gives her an ultimatum: sleep with him or be blacklisted within their industry.
5. Dance Academy (the TV show) 🩰
A movie was made in recent years as a squeal to the show, but I didn’t love it as much as I loved loved loved the series.
Fifteen-year-old Tara Webster has grown up on a farm in country Australia and has dreamt of being a dancer ever since she was a little girl. Her life takes a turn when she makes it into the National Academy of Dance – the best ballet school in the country. What Tara doesn’t realise is how far behind she is in her training, and that there’s a whole lot more to surviving the Academy than just dancing. The ballet world is full of tough competition, and Tara must work hard to maintain her position in the academy, whilst dealing with the distraction of friends, classmates and especially boys.
